What to expect:
The region that you will be traveling is one of the most popular
area with lots historical monasteries and places of interest. Lhasa
is also known as “Roof of the World”, probably the highest city in
the world.
In Lhasa, Tibet one can see all kinds of people of around Tibet,
specially in the Barkhor Market area. Lhasa & whole Tibet practices
Tibetan / Mahayana Buddhism like in Nepal, Sikkim & Ladakh, so you
can observe various kinds of activities related to Buddhism and
monks at prayer.
Tibet is still least developed province in China, however Lhasa is
slowly changing into modernization and can expect to see both side
of civilization i.e. modern and ancient as in the earlier days at
the same time.
Eventhough Tourism has started since early 80’s, there not been
significant improvement catering the needs of the western tourists.
There are certain good hotels and restaurants in Lhasa which can
cater the need but most of the Hotels / Guest Houses are very basic
(Spartan) standard.
Once you are out of Lhasa, the standard of accommodation and meals
can vary from pretty basic to moderate. Most of the Hotels & Guest
Houses are run by the Government so the service lacks quality. Most
of the Hotels / Guest Houses have common toilets and bathroom of
pretty basic standard. Again because of road condition, there could
be regular breakdown of vehicles specially while you are traveling
overland towards Nepal Border. So one has to be prepared for the
condition beyond our control.
Customs:
While in Tibet, you will encounter typical Tibetan Villages with
their rich culture and religion most of the way. On this trip, you
will come across some religious shrines and prayer walls or Mane
where one has to walk clockwise as it is the custom of Tibetan
Buddhism.
Time:
All China is based on Beijing Standard Time, which is 8
hours ahead than Greenwich Mean Time and 2.15 hours ahead than Nepal
time.
Drinking Water:
While on this trip, we recommend bottled water to prevent you from
any possible illness. Bottled water are easily available in local
market in Lhasa & enroute.

We have included all meals in Nepal as well as in Tibet as a part of
your package. In Nepal food can vary from Continental, Chinese,
Indian to Nepali. However in Tibet the standard of cuisine can be
limited, we will do our best that you will enjoy the lunch and
dinner in different restaurants that we recommend which mainly
offers Chinese, Tibetan & in some places continental and Nepali
menu.
If you are taking overland option to Kathmandu, the food menu is
very limited however Tibetan & moderate Chinese meals are available
